Real virtuality
THE BLOG
This blog will be a note pad, a whiteboard, and hopefully a launchpad for new ideas as well as revisions of old ones.
I will write about the experiences when entering a new virtual world, writing whatever comes to my mind enthusiastically expecting that there will be material to feed this blog for the next three years of of my PhD on “Sense-making strategies and user-driven innovations in Virtual Worlds.” For more details concerning the project in general see: worlds.ruc.dk
“REAL VIRTUALITY”
Virtual reality can be seen as a virtual simulation of a reality. But what if we turn things upside down? What if we question what is real and what is virtual?
Is a relationship between two avatars regularly meeting in SL, that never met in RL less real than had they met in RL? Is one perception of the world in RL nessearily more real than another? What does these distinctions add? Are they fixed or negotiatable? Are they equally important in all situations?
